BRAND HISTORY

Philosophy Agonium, an eye on the past, and to the future. The collection eschews trends and superfluous decoration to reflect symbolically on the passing of time. Agonium takes its inspiration and name from the festivals which the Ancient Romans celebrated several times a year in honour of different gods, to establish a connection between the divinities and the people. Janus, the best-known, symbolised transition and the passage from one stage to the next. With his two faces, one turned to the past and one to the future, Janus embodied the notion of time as a cycle. Behind these celebrations lies a metaphor which Daniel Strom reprises in his collection: ”Memento Mori, Carpe Diem!” Remember you will die, so seize the day! His timepieces remind us we are mortal and that everything we undertake on earth is vain. With Draco, Memento Mori, Carpe Diem or ARCHANGELI on our wrist, we can mediate this concept at leisure, revel in the present and seek pleasure wherever we can. Let the voices of doom and gloom be silent. Agonium invites us to reflect on what it means to be human. And so Daniel Strom gives a symbolic dimension to time.
